In a post on X published September 28, FHFA Director Bill Pulte announced that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will combine their separate loan level pricing grids for FICO and VantageScore 4.0 into a single grid, with VantageScore now joining the existing FICO Classic pricing structure. Pulte did not set an effective date or publish a replacement pricing grid.
We are Simplifying Mortgage Pricing following feedback from lenders and consumers. Instead of two separate pricing grids, which makes zero sense, Fannie and Freddie are hereby moving to ONE PRICING GRID with VantageScore joining the existing FICO Classic pricing grid.

At Informative Research, we see this as a meaningful step in how lenders will weigh FICO and VantageScore 4.0 going forward, even though it is not yet actionable. Closing the pricing gap between the two models could make VantageScore 4.0 a more attractive option for some borrowers once the details are final, but lenders do not have an effective date or a published grid to work from today. IR delivers credit data across single bureau, bi-merge, and tri-merge files, supports either score model now, and will keep clients updated as FHFA publishes implementation details.
