VantageScore Launches Simulator API

In a press release published Oct. 16, VantageScore introduced a new VantageScore® 4.0 Mortgage Credit Score Simulator API, a tool that lets lenders model how changes to a borrower's credit file could affect their VantageScore 4.0 results before they apply for a mortgage.

  • The API draws on credit files from Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, and returns projected scores across eight scenarios, from paying down balances and making payments on time to adding rental payment history or missing a payment.
  • It returns all three bureau scores.
  • The projections are hypothetical, and running a simulation does not change a borrower's credit report or guarantee a score.

At Informative Research, we see this as part of the next phase of VantageScore 4.0 implementation, as adoption moves from lenders using the score itself into the ancillary tools that support originations, like this simulator. We plan to support this capability for our clients in the future.
