In a press release published September 29, TransUnion announced it will extend its mortgage pricing for VantageScore® 4.0 through December 2028, giving lenders, resellers, and other industry participants three more years of pricing certainty. Read the full announcement. VantageScore 4.0 will continue to be available for $0.99 per mortgage origination score when ordered on a standalone basis, and TransUnion will keep offering it at no added cost to mortgage customers who purchase a FICO® score.

  • VantageScore 4.0 mortgage pricing stays at $0.99 per standalone score through the end of 2028.
  • TransUnion says VantageScore 4.0 adoption grew to more than 1,100 mortgage lenders between January and September 2026, including nine of its 15 largest mortgage lender customers.
  • The extension follows FHFA's September expansion of VantageScore 4.0 to all approved Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac lenders and FHA's planned acceptance of VantageScore 4.0 mortgage collateral starting January 1, 2027.

At Informative Research, we see this as one more bureau giving lenders a clearer cost picture for a score model that is still new to many workflows. Equifax made a similar commitment in July, holding its own VantageScore 4.0 mortgage pricing through 2027, so lenders now have multi year price certainty from more than one bureau. IR delivers credit data across single bureau, bi-merge, and tri-merge files and can support either FICO or VantageScore 4.0 today, whichever a lender's workflow calls for.
